Melamine

I. Product composition

Melamine, also known as cyanuramide or ammelide, and chemical formula is C3N6H6 or (NH2CN)3

II. Production process
1. Urea solubility: Steam is used for heating urea in particles, changing into liquid form and flowing to the reservoir.
2. Liquid urine circulation: Liquid urine circulates between the storage tank and washing tower, and washing process gas provides power for reactor feed.
3. Triamine generation: Under the action of catalyst, anhydrous urea generates gaseous triamine through molten salt heating reaction, entering the crystallizer through monitorial liquid cooling and filtration by the filter, and the finished product, triamine, can be obtained after gas-solid separation.
4. Process gas circulation: After separating melamine, the process gas enters the washing tower after being pressed by the cold air blower, then cooled down after circulating liquid urine washing, for recovery of the unreacted urea and melamine away from separation, and most of the gas enters the crystallizer, to promote the crystallization of triamine gas; a few enters the tail gas absorption tower; the rest enters the reactor after being pressurized by the carrier gas compressor.
5. Finished product packing: Triamine after being separated is transported to the finished product silo through the spiral pressure machine and roots blower, and sent to the warehouse for sale after being packed by large and small packaging machine.
6. Separation of ammonia and carbon: The tail gas, after absorbing the solution of ammonium carbamate in the absorption tower, shall be sent to the ammonia and carbon separation device, the finished liquid ammonia can be obtained through decarburization, desorption, carbon removal, freezing, compression and condensation, and then shall be sent to the storage tank for sale.

IV. Packaging, transportation and storage
  
Melamine takes three packaging ways, 25KG/bag, 500KG/bag and 1000KG/bag, according to user requirements, with the packaging bag of PVC woven (small packaging, lined with plastic film) bag or container bags (large packaging). The outer package shall be away from the rain or being pierced from sharp objects during transportation and storage, without contact with oil.

V. Physical security of products

Melamine is nonflammable, no combustion-supporting, with high safety factor. The dust masks shall be worn to avoid inhalation of melamine dust during use.

VI. Product application

1. Product application characteristics:

The main post processed product of melamine is melamine-formaldehyde resin (a kind of amino resin), taking the product as a the starting point, according to different purposes, using different process conditions, for derivation of a series of products with different uses. They are mainly used as coating crosslinking agent, textile finishing agent, wet strength agent, glazing agent, water repellent agent, leather tanning agent, flame retardant, high efficiency cement reduction agent, adhesive and impregnating agent for wood comprehensive processing, etc.; melamine molding plastics are widely used in making tableware, electrical components, sanitary ware, house decoration materials, etc. During the use, the matching shall be carried on strictly with the reaction components. Because the proportion is different, the performance of obtained products will be largely changed.

2. Application case

(1) Adhesive amino resin: It takes melamine and formaldehyde as raw materials for production, according to the ratio about 1:3, then added to other components. Reaction is carried out under appropriate conditions, producing amino resins for adhesives.

(2) Amino resin for coating: Melamine and formaldehyde, with the ratio of about 1:3~10, under certain temperature and weak alkaline conditions, take hydroxymethylation reaction and then etherification polycondensation reaction under certain temperature and weak acidity conditions, generating amino resins for coating, which effectively increase the coating hardness, gloss and other properties.

(3) Fire retardant coating: Melamine, as foam fireproof materials (accounting for 10% of the total amount, the same below), and acrylic resin BSI21-3F (21%), amino resin (5%), fireproof filler (36%), solvent (27.5%) and a small amount of additives (0.5%), can be made into fire retardant coating.
